A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has halted the arraignment of Nigeria’s Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen, before the Code of Conduct Tribunal over allegations of refusal to declare assets.

Dennis Aghanya, Executive Secretary of the Anti-corruption Research Data-Based Initiative (ARDBI), had filed a petition, againg Onnoghen over false assets declaration, which was quickly followed  up by the CCT.

In a Monday ruling, Justice N. E. Maha ordered all parties to maintain status quo until January 17, adding that all defendants be served with all the papers filed and they should appear in court at the next hearing.

The case was then adjourned to Tuesday January 22.
