Arsenal were comfortably beaten 2-0 by their bitter rival, Tottenham, during their Carabao cup quarter final clash at the Emirates stadium yesterday. The Gunners started the tie brimming with confidence as they had recently come from behind to beat Tottenham in the domestic league.
With South Korean International, Son Heung-min, opening the scoring after just 20 minutes of play, Arsenal poured forward in search of an equaliser but they met a resolute Spur defence. The visitors however went on to add to their tally in the second half.
The lost yesterday has got fans reacting on social media with some believing that Emery should not have played Granit Xhaka in defence as they missed the Switzerland International in midfield.
What they said:
Problem for Arsenal – again – is that they badly miss Xhaka in midfield. Guendouzi and Torreira are energetic and combative, but they can't control the game the way Xhaka has been this season.

Tottenham scored two goals, both were one on one with the keeper. I love him, he’s been more than a good servant for the club, but Koscielny isn’t starting player material anymore. Time to say goodbye. Oh, and yes, Xhaka shouldn’t play never ever again out of his position. Ciao

This Xhaka in defence thing needs to stop. Play Medley. Xhaka needs to play in midfield. If we don’t have an U21 left-back good enough to play defence ahead of Xhaka then our academy is a mess.
