Just In: Uyo Stands still as Freke Umoh returns with #UyoNOW2018 concert -Newslanded

Freke Umoh

It was gospel music like never before as gospel artiste, Freke Umoh, held the fourth edition of his annual music festival for Uyo, tagged the NOW Concert.

The project, which began in 2015 and held every November, is the gospel singer’s ‘gift’ of a nationwide music festival to his native Akwa Ibom State.

“This project has consistently attracted an increasing number of participants with each edition. Though we moved the concert from the usual weekend, Sunday evening to a weekday evening, we still were overwhelmed by the turnout. Uyo does appreciate the NOW project,” reads a statement by the project’s public relations agency.

According to the statement, the concert started with about 8000 worshipers in the first outing, and has had a steady turnout of energetic worshipers packing out the Noah’s Ark Auditorium of Full Life Christian Centre that we meet.”

The 2018 edition titled ‘Worship Un-convention’, and held November 6, was the first edition to have three non-resident gospel ministers headline the event including Freke Umoh, Kaydee ‘the Hi-life prophet’ Numbere and sensational worship leader, Prospa Ochimana, who is famed for his hit Ekwueme, traveling in from outside Akwa Ibom.

The stage was also manned by Uyo favourites including Godfada, Udy Uche, Manuel Music, Murphy Ogbe and Mfon Akintoye with cameo appearances from Mirobed and Davasol.

Freke and his team, the Lifted Hands, no doubt has had a busy year, which began with the first NOW project held outside Uyo, the Abuja NOW. It was followed by a release of his single Bend Down Select and another live concert in Abuja tagged Access Granted.

In August, the NOW project went international with the Nairobi NOW project in conjunction with the Purpose Centre Church, Kenya. On October 1, ‘The End of This’, a tribute of hope in the future of Nigeria, was released by Freke and his team.
