Just In: Shoms wins The Roses quiz competition -Newslanded

As part of developing reading culture, creativity and healthy rivalry among students, The Roses Ministry recently held a quiz competition for schools with a theme “Youths: the challenges of growing up”

The seminar held at the National stadium, Lagos was aimed at boosting the confidence and promote reading culture among the youth to equip them for the challenges ahead.

Chairperson of the event, Dr Ije Jidenma, commended the students for their performance and enjoined them to remain good ambassadors of their schools and society.

She encouraged them to know their histories and embrace positive culture, and not to lose their identities.

“Youths are tomorrow’s leaders. Since they are fortunate to be born into this period so they are ‘social natives or residents. She urged them to use the platform judiciously and never abuse it”
 
Special guest and motivational speaker, Mrs. Ronke Adeniyi, charged the students to be obedient, get good mentors, work as a team, and learn new skills in order to be relevant in the digital space.

She said, “No knowledge is lost or wasted; as they all form a part of robust, and well grounded individual. As a techno person, entertainer and motivational speaker, I embrace new ideas and innovations which expose me to critical thinking and creativity”.

Students of Shoms International School, Aguda Surulere, Lagos, emerged first followed by Princeton College, while Sommerset College, Surulere emerged third.

Among the participating schools were Queen College, Bedrock college, Baptist Girls Academy, Noblevine school, Gloryland College, Oba Adelani Memorial School and Brown Memorial school Lagos.
