Just In: Mayeth steps out with don’t play -Newslanded

Mayeth

Mayeth Isaac, popularly known as Mayeth, is a Nigeria-born singer based in New Jersey, United State of America.

A dauntless pioneer, the singer-songwriter is trying to reposition pop as a high art again. Her distinct voice is one you can’t ignore.

A younger sister to alternative artiste Jimoh Waxiu, she uses her flow and delivery to create groovy melodies with her ability to make music in several genres, which moves in slightly different directions.

As an upstart, she tends to deliver on the hype with her amazing voice through executive productions from the like of Galaxy Beats.

Don’t Play appears to be the singer-songwriter’s first ever debut, which has caught attentions of radio DJs such as DJ Shabzy, who placed the song on Soundcity FM rotation. Gradually, the song is gaining momentum on air.

Mayeth seem to be all about the process; she’s the ‘what’s next’ kind of artiste. And with her latest single, she closes the gap between dancehall and Afrobeat. From all indications, she seems to understand the core properties of both genres.

As the drums staggers, she dropped off stacking cadences, emphasising on one word, “Don’t play with my heart; turn up with me let the whole world know I’m your woman.”

This is a far cry from her more delightfully unconventional writings, without the glow of her tremendously colorful personality.
