Unical subdues Unilorin, meets University of Agriculture, Makurdi in HIFL final

Unical battling with Unilorin in the second leg of their semifinal tie in Calabar…on Wednesday.

The University of Calabar (UNICAL Malabites) on Wednesday defeated University of Ilorin 2-0 at home to qualify for the Higher Institutions Football League (HIFL) final, where they will meet University of Agriculture, Makurdi (UAM Tillers).

The final match of the inaugural HIFL will hold at the Agege Stadium, Lagos on November 3, 2018.

In an exciting encounter at the University of Agriculture Makurdi Stadium, the UAM Tillers cancelled a two-goal deficit to defeat the OAU Giants by 3-0, winning on a 6-5 aggregate score line.

The UNICAL Malabites also canceled the 1-0 deficit from their first leg match played in Ilorin with a 2-0 home win against the UNILORIN Warriors in Calabar.

The Stanbic IBTC Man of the match in the UAM Tillers versus OAU Giants game, Ebuka David showed why he is currently the highest scorer in the tournament with eight goals under his belt, as he scored again in the 42nd minute.

Two more goals from Abata Terkuma in the third minute and Anthony Elaigwu in the 48th minute completed the rout of the OAU Giants.

Similarly, goals from Prince Umoh in the ninth minute and Osas Paul in the 18th minute were enough to give the UNICAL Malabites a comfortable 2-0 win over the UNILORIN Warriors despite a spirited effort from the Ilorin boys.
