The Agricultural and Rural Management Training Institute (ARMTI), Ilorin, Kwara state, has trained over 200 agricultural officials on value addition to farm produce in the six geopolitical zones of the country.
Acting Executive Director of the institute, Dr Olufemi Oladunni, said the programme had contributed to deepening efforts of the Federal Government towards food security, employment and income generation as well as the general development of the sector and the diversification of the Nigerian economy.
Oladunni spoke in Ilorin at the opening ceremony of the national training for agric commodity value chain development facilitators and a workshop on agric value chain management.
According to the ARMTI boss, "having identified the commodities where each zone has comparative advantage, ARMTI has continued to train farmers, facilitators, administrators and other actors along various agricultural commodity value chains on how to develop virile value chains.’’
