Great Life Technology Limited (GLT) has introduced a platform, ‘Online Wisdom’, poised at creating unique cyber information security awareness.

The initiative, which is created by e-business professionals, is targeted at inducing awareness on cashless economy and also providing comprehensive information and e-business security awareness campaign to organisations, banks, schools, government establishments, and the public.

Speaking at the launch in Lagos at the weekend, Managing Director, GLT, Martin Obiora, said the company’s target is to heighten the level of information security compromise and electronic banking fraud.

Obiora said it was obvious that a substantial number of people have already fallen victim to online scam and some have been defrauded through the electronic banking channels due to lack of awareness.

“Our objective is to stem the tide through our massive awareness campaign called ‘OnlineWisdom’. The channels that will be used to create the awareness include TV, radio, CDs, booklets, magazines, posters, partnership with schools and instructor led trainings.

“We are also establishing ‘’OnlineWisdom” club in primary schools, secondary schools and tertiary institutions. Through this channel the young minds will be enlightened and helped to remain safe as they use the internet,” Obiora revealed.

Among other objectives, the platform is also to enlighten the public on how to protect the kids, teenagers and young grownups from internet menace; steps to protect their online reputation; and enlighten the general public on steps to protect their computer from being compromised or hacked.

Earlier in his remarks, a Cyber Security Expert, Sam Okenye, said technology has transformed the way people live, stating that it has affected all spheres of life.

Okenye said education has been transformed by technology. People can now study without visiting the four walls of the university.

He said cyber security threat is a major threat, adding that individuals and businesses are being disrupted and misinformed on daily basis.

“In spite of the numerous benefits of technology, cyber threats remain enormous. In dealing with cyber threats, online protection or security isn’t enough but human elements,” Okenye said.
