Lagos State government has started the conversion of the main bowl of the Teslim Balogun Stadium from an artificial turf to a grass pitch in fulfillment of a promise made by the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode-led government.
This means the stadium will meet the required standard to host the FIFA and CAF matches.Disclosing this yesterday, the chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Kweku Adedayo Tandoh said, “the government has mobilised the contractor to the site, and the artificial turfs on the main bowl of the stadium are being removed for replacement with a natural grass for the facility to meet the required standard to host both FIFA and Confederation of African Football games. “The new development is in line with the commitment of the current administration towards providing world class sporting facilities across the state,” Tandoh said.
