A pan-African reinsurance company, Continental Reinsurance Plc, has announced the opening of its fourth edition of the “Pan-African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards”.The 2019 awards are now open to all business journalists from Anglophone and Francophone countries in Africa, while submissions have commenced since September 4, until November 30 2018.
Interested participants are encouraged to submit entries, following the outlined instructions on the awards web page before the deadline.“This year’s awards will give opportunity to both traditional and online journalists to participate and compete with those from print media, who have been entering the highest number of entries over the past three editions,’’ the Group Managing Director, Continental Reinsurance, Dr. Femi Oyetunji, said.
The categories in the 2019 awards include Pan-African Re/Insurance Journalist of the Year; Best Re/Insurance Print Article; Best Re/Insurance Broadcast (TV/Radio) Article; and Best Re/Insurance Online Article.“The new category (online) will accommodate articles and blogs written exclusively for Internet audiences. These categories were recommended by the 2018 judging panel,” he added.
An independent panel of judges will assess the entries and select winners of the Pan African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards 2019, that would be announced during the Continental Re’s yearly CEO Summit slated for April 2019, in Mauritius.
The journalism awards were initiated in 2015 by Continental Reinsurance to recognise and acknowledge the good work of media on the continent. Journalists are required to demonstrate how their articles raised awareness and understanding of the re/insurance sector in Africa.
